Jesus explained the reason:
Yahshua/Jesus (ישוע) the Messiah is the Way, the Truth and the Life, (John 14:6); which means that whenever people are resistant to the truth, they are in reality resisting Jesus Christ, whether they realize it or not; and whenever anyone is resistant to Jesus Christ, to His Standards, and resistant to His Words, they are not just resisting religion, they are resisting the truth, whether they realize it or not.
As It Is Written: ““He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (John 3:18–21 NKJV)
The person who refuses to believe is already walking toward condemnation; because Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for sin, (See 1 John 2:1-2); so then, if you reject the sacrifice that God provided to be the atonement for sin, then you are choosing to pay for your own sins. Such a person would be walking toward condemnation from the outset.
Based on the verses above, we see that sinners love the darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. Everyone practicing evil hates the light, (they hate the truth); because they don’t want their deeds compared with the truth. They don’t want their evil deeds exposed to the light.
People who love the light and who love the truth, WANT their deeds to be compared to the light and compared to the truth. Why? Because; If a person who loves the truth compares their way of life to the light and to the truth, then one of two things is going to happen. Their life will reveal that they are matching up with the light and with the truth, and that they are walking the right way. Or, even if they are in error, the person who loves the truth, still WANTS their deeds to be exposed to the light, because then they will see where they are mistaken, and they will care enough about the truth to make serious adjustments to the way that they are walking, so that their thoughts words and deeds will come into agreement with YHWH and with Messiah Who is the Truth and the Light. So, if a person who LOVES the TRUTH sees that their deeds don’t match the truth, they appreciate that, because that means that they will see that they need to make the adjustments required before the judgment. The person who loves the truth views their deeds being exposed to them as a PROTECTION, not as an assault upon them. You can always tell where a person’s heart truly is by how well they respond to genuinely CONCERNED and FAIR criticism. If they love the truth, they will appreciate you bringing it to them. If they love their sin more than they love the truth, (regardless of how gently or how fairly you criticize them), they will resent you for bringing their sin to their attention, because they would rather not see it. They would rather PRETEND that they are Righteous, rather than actually BEING Righteous. There lays the main difference.
The reason that sometimes people will KILL when the truth is exposed to them, is that they carry the spirit of Cain rather than the spirit of Abel, (see Genesis 4). Cain wanted the blessing and the prosperity that came from worshiping God, but he wanted the blessing without actually submitting to God and doing what God considered to be right. God corrected Cain’s attitude, and told him what he needed to do to be accepted by God. Cain’s solution to the problem was to reject God’s Coaching and Instruction. Instead of doing what God told him to do so that he could be accepted, Cain decided that if he killed his brother Abel, (if he killed the one that was walking in the truth), God would supposedly have no choice but to accept him, and bless his line of offspring, because he was the only brother left. That was delusional of course, but I have virtually no doubt, that this was part of the twisted logic that Cain was using at the time. That’s why some people who hate the truth actually kill those who tell the truth, because somehow they figure that the truth will change if the liars are the only voice left to do any talking. It’s delusional, but that’s generally why they do it.
I hope that helps. Thank you for your kind attention.
