Why can saying the truth get you hated, slandered, or worse, killed?

Jesus explained the reason: Yahshua/Jesus (ישוע) the Messiah is the Way, the Truth and the Life, (John 14:6); which means that whenever people are resistant to the truth, they are in reality resisting Jesus Christ, whether they realize it or not; and whenever anyone is resistant to Jesus Christ, to His Standards, and resistant to His Words, they are not just resisting religion, they are resisting the truth, whether they realize it or not.
